Are you content in your life? Do you find yourself fully immersed in the busyness of your life? Does hustle and bustle give you a sense of purpose? When talking to people, do you find the conversation bending more to how much you have to do, rather than, how content you are? Do you feel guilty not doing anything? Have you fallen prey to the phrase,” just keep it movin'”? After all, as long as you’re movin’ you don’t deal with your reality. Your reality could be a bad marriage, kids going bananas at school, you’ve got new health concerns, home is in foreclosure, and the list could go on. With God, even those things that look bad, can be made better, but we’ve got to “still” ourselves in order for that to happen.
Be still and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
But have you ever just sat in your own space, and not felt guilty that you didn’t feel like doing anything ( laundry, checking emails, running errands, being the soccer mom or dad for the day? ) Something has shifted in the mindset of people lately. It has become more important to have things on your calendar to do rather than invest time in relationships; sitting and talking, having a bite, drinking a cup of coffee or tea over conversation.
People have forgotten how to talk. They can be in the same space and everyone is texting. We don’t make eye contact anymore! Look at me for goodness sake! First, the initial greeting, then the head immediately goes down. Why? Because, people need a distraction. Distraction from having to actually communicate to real people! There must be something their missing right? Somewhere they ought to be by now? Surely, someone is going to be calling soon. Its ridiculous!
Whatever happened to just being content? Being okay with what you were doing, even if you were doing absolutely nothing. Whatever happened to being present? Being in and enjoying the moment?
“Contentment is not the fulfillment of what we have but the appreciation for what we have”. Anonymous
God is still in control of every area of our life. If we just allow Him to do what He does! He is God! He flung the stars into the sky! He created the waters that flow. He is God! He wants us to be content.
Contentment is a state of happiness and satisfaction, being at ease, a sense of well-being and peace, fulfillment, gratification.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Each verse is proof that He has already made provision for our contentment. Look at every verse and you’ll find Rest, peace, strength, protection, comfort, preparation, anointing, overflowing blessings, goodness and mercy.
The safest place in the whole wide world is to be is in the will of God. It is there, you will find contentment.
Monday is still coming!
