Waiting On God

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

God has so much  planned for you but it requires waiting.  Waiting requires discipline. Discipline requires obedience.  Obedience requires fearlessness, and fearlessness requires faith. And the bible says without faith it is impossible to please God!
In other words if you can’t operate in faith , nine times out of ten, you’ll find it difficult to  wait on God !
At some point in our lives, anything worth having, requires waiting. And if we must wait, why not just wait on the Lord.
We don’t like to wait. We microwave our food. We eat out rather than wait for something to thaw out and then prepare it. We flip channels quickly when a commercial comes on because we don’t want to wait. We change lanes rather than wait behind a car that’s moving slower than us. We leave items in the store rather than wait on a long line.
The scripture says  they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Waiting will result in increased strength.  When you don’t wait on God, you exhaust your own strength.
As I look at the text, the question I had was why did Isaiah mention eagles? What is it about eagles that  brings life to this scripture?
There are characteristics of an eagle that are synonymous with those that wait on the Lord.

1. Eagles have vision
They position themselves high above everything else so they can be attentive to everything moving. Their eyes are created for long distance vision and clarity.
2.Eagles are fearless

An eagle will never surrender to the size or strength of its prey. It will always give a fight to win its prey or regain its territory.
3.Eagles are tenacious
When a storm comes other birds fly away from the storm with fear but an eagle spreads its mighty wings and uses the current to soar to higher heights.

4.The eagle takes advantage of the very storm that lesser birds fear and head for cover.

Why not wait on God. Whatever your circumstances are this day, you’ll be glad you waited on the Lord for His answer; for His direction. Monday is still coming.
